shopping District
Next we visited a closed shopping district. We tried Granada (Marion is eating one below) which tasted like a pomegranate with seeds like fish eggs. You can see Rosie eating a water Apple which had white flesh and had a texture like a pear but tasted like nothing I can compare to.
This is Jesus with Marion.
We are watching torta queso being made. They taste similar to corn bread. You dip it in a kind of sour creamish stuff.

The Fort in Heredia
We went into the main town by bus. Once there we visited their iconic fort. We climbed a very small winding staircase three stories that had barely a handrail. Once at the top Jesse pushed open a glass ceiling door and we climbed out. It was so windy Helena only got off all fours to take this picture.
we bought some fruit and ice cream. Que Rico!

First day of school
the girls started their first day of school today. 4 hours of spanish every morning. They were a little nervous at first but they seem to be excited about tomorrow. We played around after school and heading into the main town by bus.

Los Caballos
We watched a drunken horse parade today. It was pretty awesome. The horses dance and the riders drink. It was a fundraiser for their Red Cross.

Geracis make it to Heredia
we made it to Costa Rica! We managed to make it through the airport speaking our limited hillbilly spanish and then Costa Rica gave us a strong dose of español. No one in the house we are staying in speaks English except their 8 year old daughter. The girls can’t wait to meet Maria Celeste.
We made it our most important task to find a park. Success!
