Because it was Fathers’ Day, I was able to talk the girls into making some music with me. I loaded up a drum loop in Garage Band, and then hastily played a few improvised guitar tracks over the top of the drums. Then the fun began. I got Marion and Helena to each improvise a vocal track (and if you listen, you will hear Rose squawks too). After which, I added some background / duet vocals. It ended up coming out pretty cute. Enjoy.

today we hiked out to an island that has a land bridge at low tide. We saw lots of birds and even some fish when we snorkled of the shores of the island cemetery.

Here are some pictures of our casita in Montezuma. We had Cariblanco monkeys visit us, lots of coatis, scorpions, hummingbirds, butterflies, and a tailless rodent who’s name is escaping me at the moment. (Jesse Edit: agouti) You could hear the howler monkeys off in the distance. It is a beautiful place on this planet.

This is our outdoor shower

The girls loved horseback riding so much we did it again, this time on the beach. This trip had some high adventures including JP’s horse taking a solo journey, Jesse’s horse rolling over (while Jesse was on its back), and climbing slippery boulders up and back down the beach. At the end of the day we were all safe and had some big laughs.

Nothing says montezuma more than a trucker hat with “Montezuma Pura Vida” sharpied onto a hat

Today we drove to Banana Beach to look for shells
First we traveled over bumpy dirt roads past road cows

Then past the parasol ladies

To our beach cabana

Low tide – the tide pools look like the moon

Of course the day ended with a flat tire

Behind our cabin is the Montazuma River. Marion, Helena, and I (Jackie) hiked for an hour down to the waterfall where the girls played on the rope swing with a dozen young Italian men who kept telling me how impressed they were with the girls. They jumped from the lower waterfall (15 feet) -10 Italians applauding with each jump- and we watched the teenagers jump the second waterfall (60 feet!)
This spider was the size of Marion’s fist

We found a river that goes into the ocean. The water was brackish. We played on the rope swing and enjoyed a wet morning.
Jesse had the “week off”
Beautiful sunrise from our cabin. You can almost hear all of the different birds singing and the howler monkeys greeting the early morning.
Post breakfast ice cream.
Just enough grandma to go around.
